About Us

Hello! I'm Kathy, a Liverpool-based photographer and mum to two little rascals (one of whom took this photo of me!). Since I began my career in photography in 2001, I've been taking photos of all sorts of people, all ages, shapes and sizes, from all walks of life, from the new baby through to the seasoned celebrity.

Quality and service have always been of paramount importance to me, as long as I can remember. So when I do any sort of shoot, I'm aiming to get the very best pictures possible, every time.  No exceptions.

I love my work - it's my passion. And I'm passionate about making everyone look and feel good, regardless of any issues they may have about themselves. Although I've lost weight in recent years, I used to be a size 18 so I know how it feels to be a big girl, and I'm in my forties so now I have the lines and sags that come with the experience and wisdom! Like many people I generally don't  like photographs of myself, but when it was my turn to venture into the unknown and have some pictures taken for this website I had a really good time and I'm thrilled with the results. Plus after having my shoot  I know how it feels to be in the client's shoes, which is a big help when it comes to putting people at ease.

How it all started . . .

I began The Boudoir Book after some requests from Ikonography's brides to create a tasteful, sexy portfolio as a special gift for their groom. Since then the team and I have developed a series of packages, so you can choose from a desktop framed picture to a complete Boudoir Book packed full of gorgeous images. And it's not just for brides - we now have clients ranging in age from 18 to 60. We can even supply a professional portfolio if you are seeking a career in modelling or the media.

The Boudoir Book's photographic "house style"

Although we are really consistent when it comes to quality and service, the one area where we don't want to be restricted is with our creativity. So we don't have a specific "house style" at The Boudoir Book. We avoid working to formulas and are always open to new ideas and flashes of creative inspiration! We are expert in many different lighting techniques and combined with whatever attitude you choose to portray, you're going to get a unique set of shots, rather than have a "style" imposed on you.

My personal influences include the great Hollywood photographers and the stars of yesteryear, like Marlene Deitrich, Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Greta Garbo. The photographers back then really knew how to make a woman look incredible,  and with today's digital imaging techniques we can now do the same for any woman. Good photography, combined with careful lighting and posing (and perhaps a little airbrushing!) will bring out the best in anyone, regardless of age, shape or size. All of the women featured on this website are real women (all of whom have given their permission to appear on the site), not professional models. Their ages range from early twenties to late forties and none of them have any previous modelling experience.
